Earlier in 2021, American company Tobacco International Inc. launched its first tobacco-free product, known as ‘Snus’, under its global brand Rebel. Today, the new alternatives that initiated the company’s smokeless line are achieving a global presence and recording growing sales across Europe and America. Soon, Rebel Snus will be entering the Arab market through the GCC countries and Iraq.
“We are introducing a new generation of smokeless Rebel products. At Tobacco International Inc. we envision a smoke-free world; hence our fundamental belief in developing effective alternatives to traditional smoking practices,” affirmed Lebanese Founder & CEO Atef Hazime, who is of Lebanese descent. “As people are increasingly becoming more aware of their wellbeing, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic that had us all reevaluate our health choices, we acknowledge and substantially encourage the reduction of cigarette smoking,” he adds.
The less harmful nicotine pouches are available in multiple flavors and are produced as per the highest standards in the United States and Scandinavian countries by reputable manufacturers. They are easily placed under the upper lip and are convenient in places where smoking is not allowed, such as airplanes and airports, or when smokers are in locations where they do not wish to disturb other people.
Additionally, Tobacco International Inc. contributes to a more ethical and sustainable future as part of its “smokeless future” vision. Therefore, it was a conscious and curated choice to invest in ‘Snus’, rather than e-cigarettes, as an alternative to traditional tobacco products.
As opposed to cigarettes and e-cigarettes, the nicotine pouches are not smoked, so the consumer does not exhale smoke, making them a less environmentally damaging alternative. Additionally, ‘Snus’ does not contain as many dangerous components as cigarette butts. Eventually, nicotine is not risk-free, but switching to a smoke-free alternative is preferable to continued smoking. By introducing our new products, we seek to incite adult smokers to cut down on smoking and potentially kick the smoking habit.
REBEL and KRATOS, developed by Tobacco International Inc., have established a broad international footprint across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia through retail, pharmacy, travel-retail, and e-commerce channels. REBEL, launched in 2018, forms the foundation of this growth, while KRATOS, introduced in 2025, expands the portfolio with nicotine, zero-nicotine, and functional pouch products. Key markets include Sweden (energy pouches, zero-nicotine pouches), the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Thailand, Lebanon, and others, where the full product portfolio is available. During its latest visit to Lebanon, the Global Institute for Novel Nicotine (GINN) confirmed REBEL’s leadership with an estimated 90% nationwide market share, reinforcing the brands’ role in accelerating the global shift away from combustible cigarettes.
obacco International Inc. has entered into a strategic partnership with Singapore-based Wingglen Pte. Ltd. to launch REBEL and KRATOS nicotine pouch brands in Thailand’s duty-free and local retail markets. The agreement positions Wingglen as the exclusive partner responsible for airport duty-free operations and in-market development, marking the official entry of both brands into Thailand. The launch at Bangkok International Airport represents the first phase of a broader Southeast Asia expansion, leveraging high-traffic travel retail channels to accelerate brand visibility and regional growth.
Editorial and credible Lebanon’s rise as the Middle East’s leading tobacco alternative market has been shaped by the early presence of REBEL, the recent entry of KRATOS, and growing recognition from the Global Institute for Novel Nicotine as pharmacy adoption accelerates.
